With the 2010 holiday season over, gaming manufacturers are looking at their numbers to see which one came out on top in 2010. Last year, like many before it, people believed it would be the year that Nintendo would meet its demise and finally be knocked from the number one slot.
Writers have been touting that Xbox 360 and PS3 console and software sales would dethrone Nintendo’s Wii for months. Many gamers debate that, believing that the Wii has plenty of play left in its game. After the holiday figures were calculated, it would seem that the reigning champ still reigns. Wii consoles and games were the leader at Toys-R-Us this last season. Gaming industry has developed over the last 10 years drastically, and today we have online degree programs and many opportunities in gaming industry.
While the Wii is no longer the only gaming console with gesture-based controllers, it still has the largest library of games for these types of controllers. The recent competition does have great technology, but only a handful of games go along with it. It will take competitors years to catch up to the vast library of Wii games available.
Nintendo’s Wii is perfect for the less-serious video game lover. Wii has games that nearly everyone will play. Nintendo has long been a name that means video games. The company has spent decades developing games like the Legend of Zelda, Mario Brothers, Pikmin, and other titles that are familiar and family friendly. Wii also has the most games suitable for youngsters.
Sure, other makers have their share of kid-appropriate games, but Wii offers the most. If you’re looking for a more economical gaming system, then Wii is for you. It costs a little more in the beginning, but games are less expensive. If you’re like most gamers and plan to buy more than two or three games a year, Wii will save you money. Even though its graphics are not as clear as other gaming systems, Nintendo will continue to stay on top for a while longer.
